Former Saints WR Michael Thomas is no longer facing charges from an incident that occurred outside his home midway through last season.
The misdemeanor criminal charges against Thomas were dismissed this week, according to a report from NOLA.com.
The charges of simple battery and criminal mischief were stemming from an long-running altercation that involved contractors working outside of Thomas' home in Kenner. Thomas was alleged to have pushed a man working on the scene was also said to have picked up a brick and thrown it at the car.
The alleged victim spoke to reporters immediately following the incident. Thomas' attorney told reporters that there were no injuries or demonstrated damages. The charges were refused due to lack of evidence, the report said.
The news brings to a bizarre thread of events in an odd season for Thomas and the Saints. The news of Thomas' arrest came hours before the Saints departed for a Week 10 matchup against Minnesota. Thomas caught the first two passes of the game, but appeared to take a helmet to the knee as he caught the second ball, causing a knee injury that ended his season.
Thomas officially reached free agency this offseason, with the team designating him a post-June 1 cut. The veteran WR will play for a new team for the first time since the Saints drafted him in the second round of the 2016 draft, though his name has not yet surfaced with any potential destinations.
