Saints assistant Dan Campbell favored to be next Lions coach, report says

Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell is Detroit Lions' top candidate for their vacant head coaching position, according to a report from the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Campbell interviewed with the franchise Monday, and per Rapoport no official moves will be made or announced until the Saints' season is complete.

Campbell has spent the past five seasons serving as the Saints tight ends coach. He’d previously served as the Miami Dolphins interim head coach in 2015 and was a member of the Miami staff for the previous four seasons.

Prior to coaching Campbell played 11 seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants (1999-2002), Dallas Cowboys (2003-05), Detroit Lions (2006-08) and Saints (2009).

Campbell isn’t the only member of the Saints organization expected to make a move when the post-season run finishes.
