As if Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings was not going poorly enough, the New Orleans Saints may have lost their starting quarterback in the process.

Derek Carr left the game in the third quarter after taking a vicious hit from Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter. The Saints announced it was a right shoulder injury and Carr was being evaluated for a concussion.

Carr went down hard and took a while to get back up before he left for the blue medical tent on the sideline. He then left the tent and was taken to the locker room via cart.

Jameis Winston replaced Carr with the Saints trialing 27-3 but finished the drive by leading the Saints into the end zone, connecting with Chris Olave for a 14-yard touchdown.

It’s not the first time Carr has been forced out of a game this season. He left a Week 3 game against the Packers with a shoulder injury, although he did not miss any time due to the injury.
