Kellen Moore is the next New Orleans Saints head coach, but there are still a host of questions left to answer.
Among those is who will be populating a new-look coaching staff in New Orleans, one that WWL Radio's Deuce McAllister expects to feature significant experience around the first-time head coach.
"Particularly being a first-time head coach, you want to make sure that he probably has one or two staffers on his staff. ... You want to make sure he has one or two staffers on his staff that have been head coaches prior," McAllister told Mike Detillier and Charlie Long on SportsTalk. "So whether that’s in the NFL, whether that’s college, just to make sure from an administrative standpoint you could help take some of that pressure off of him."

One name that's been popular conversation for a potential defensive coordinator is Brandon Staley, the former Chargers head coach who hired Moore to his staff as OC in 2023 before that regime was dumped midseason. Staley is currently the assistant head coach for the San Francisco 49ers.
Moore is reportedly sticking with WRs coach Keith Williams, a move that will be popular in the locker room, and bringing back Brendan Nugent as OL coach. Nugent was the Saints OL coach from 2015-'21 and was also on Moore's Chargers staff in 2023.
“There will be things that he kind of adjusts to, to being a head coach. ... It will have to be a situation where he has a few people that he leans on as far as some of the decisions that he makes, some of the things that he wants to do and how he sees fit for that team," Deuce continued. "That’s why I think surrounding him with a veteran staff will be critical for him, but I mean, at the end of the day it’ll be his call. He’s been around football long enough, whether you’re talking about college, NFL as well as pros. He’s been with different organizations enough to know how he wants to do things, what he feels works for him team."
Moore will be officially introduced as the Saints head coach during a Thursday press conference, scheduled at 11:30 a.m. You can hear it all on WWL AM-870, FM-105.3 and the Audacy app.
