Often in the NFL coaching ranks, when one door closes, another one opens.

That appears to be the case for former Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, who was relieved of his duties at season’s end.

Carmichael is reportedly headed to Denver to reunite with the man he worked under for most of his 18-year tenure in New Orleans, former Saints head coach Sean Payton, now the head coach of the Denver Broncos, according to a report by NOLA.Com/Times-Picayune reporter and Fox 8 Sports analyst Jeff Duncan.

Carmichael had served as the Saints’ offensive coordinator since 2009, the season that saw the Black and Gold win their only Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 44.

Duncan reports that Carmichael is expected to be named senior offensive assistant in Denver.
