Former Saints fan-favorite QB Teddy Bridgewater's NFL career has come to an end. Next up will be mentoring the next Teddy Bridgewater.
After spending this past season as the backup to Jared Goff on the Lions, Bridgewater has been named the next head coach at Miami Northwestern High School, according to reports.
The landing spot has been a long-rumored one for Bridgewater, who had previously indicated he intended to retire after the season. The school is Bridgewater's alma mater and has produced a host of NFL players including Bucs LB Lavonte David and DT Calijah Kancey, and Browns star WR Amari Cooper in recent years.
Bridgewater will forever hold lore among Saints fans for his two-year stint as the backup to Drew Brees in 2019-'20. He notably took over in Week 3 of the 2019 season following a thumb injury to Brees and subsequently led the Saints to five straight victories. Bridgewater departed in the 2020 offseason for a big contract with the Panthers, though that stint left much to be desired. He also spent time as the Broncos QB, and will see his career end with a record of 33-32 over 9 seasons.
