Some players that stood out:
TE FOSTER MOREAU
Why: This is self-explanatory. The man was diagnosed with cancer earlier this offseason. The fact that he's already on the field is remarkable,

WR A.T. PERRY
Why: This is not necessarily a good thing. The big WR was targeted four time, and you could argue he had three drops. All four throws were backshoulder-type opportunities. He's got to be better.

QB DEREK CARR
Why: He looked solid and it was a good first impression all around. He completed all eight of his throws in team drills, primarily to TEs.

QB JAKE HAENER
Why: "Man, Drew Brees looks big [compared] to him," Bobby Hebert says. It's true, the size question is real for Jake. But as Detillier points out, he throws a pretty ball, and the modern NFL doesn't punish smaller QBs the way it used to.

TE LUCAS KRULL
Why: He looks like he's slimmed down and is moving well. He caught multiple passes on Day 1 and could be in for an expanded role this season. The question is whether he can go in-line and block effectively.

TE JUWAN JOHNSON
Why: One of the big plays of the day was the TE working up the seam under DB Lonnie Johnson for a big gain. That's got to become automatic between he and Carr, so it's good to see it get started early.

QB JAMEIS WINSTON
Why: The Saints are no stranger to having to rely on a backup QB, and Jameis Winston looks ready to fill that role. This time last year he was coming off a major knee injury and looked a bit hobbled, but that's not the case this time around. He looks smooth and ready to work.

WR CHRIS OLAVE
Why: The biggest question for Chris Olave this offseason was whether he could add any bulk and improved on contested catches. Well, the biggest play of Day 1 had Olave going up for a ball. “I don’t know in a real game if Marcus Maye would’ve made the play, but he didn’t make the play … and that ball was a duck," Hebert said. "So Chris Olave made Derek Carr look good, and that’s what you want as a quarterback.”

WR/RB? KIRK MERRITT
Why: It wasn't until late in camp last year that former Destrehan star Kirk Merritt started working with the RB group. It's started from Day 1 this time. The more you can do the better chance you have to make the roster. He'll be a guy to watch.
