Hebert: If Saints can't beat Panthers to give fans hope, 'we're flatlined'

There are plenty of complicated potential Saints tiebreaker scenarios you could busy yourself with these days, and a majority of them not kind to the Saints chances.

But when the 1-11 Panthers come to town this week it's a pretty simple equation for the Saints, as Bobby Hebert broke down this week on WWL.

“I can tell you when the sky is really falling and the glass is not half full or half empty, it’s just damn empty," Hebert said to Mike Detillier. "We lose to Carolina Sunday, it’s good night Irene.”

It's hard to argue that point, considering a loss would give the Saints 8 losses and either drop New Orleans multiple games behind the Falcons, or a game behind both the Bucs and Falcons, with those two teams playing this week.

At the end of the day it'd also be a morale disaster to fall to a team that's lost 11 times in 12 games and already fired their head coach, in a season where the Saints would like to view themselves as contenders.

“It keeps the heartbeat going with a W," Detillier said. "It doesn’t cure anything, but it keeps the heartbeat going.”

Hebert: “Well, if we don’t beat Carolina ... we’re flatlined.”
