Hebert: Saints got all the breaks to beat Packers. They still found a way to lose.

The Saints didn't turn the ball over. The Saints got a takeaway. The Saints got a 76-yard punt return touchdown. Jimmy Graham even got in the end zone and the Saints led by three scores midway with 12 minutes to go.

The Saints still found a way to lose to the Packers 18-17 in a game that Derek Carr left early in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.

“You should never, ever lose a game if you get any kind of advantage," WWL's Bobby Hebert said. "You get a pick-6, you get a scoop and score, you get a kickoff or a punt return for touchdown. No, you have to win those games, and a majority of times that’s the difference to help you win.”

It was also another game where the Saints defense held the opposition to 20 points or fewer, the 11th consecutive game they've been able to make that claim. The only problem? The team is 6-5 in those games, something that's patently unacceptable for a team with as rich an offensive tradition as the Saints.

“All I know is you give up 20 points or less, we shouldn’t lose the damn game," Hebert continued.

It was as frustrating a result as you'll find, with the Packers going ahead with a 2-point conversion late in the 4th quarter. It was made all the more demoralizing when the Saints offense, led by Jameis Winston, drove into field goal range with a little over a minute to go, only to see rookie kicker Blake Grupe miss a 46-yard attempt wide right.

“It’s a very disappointing loss considering we thought the game was well in hand,” Hebert said.
