The New Orleans Saints got their first win in a month. They got it by 22 points, even if the result didn't feel secure until the final minutes.
The result also came against a team that's won just a single game all season. All that said, as Bobby Hebert explained in his postgame rant, there's no such thing as a cheap win in the NFL.

"When you break it down it is the NFL. You know, you've heard me say this before," Hebert said. "There’s no really, like, homecoming games. We all appreciated the Army-Navy game yesterday and the history, but like when LSU played Army, you think West Point, the Cadets had a chance? Not no, but hell no. Now, you want to respect them, but listen, LSU is gonna kill ‘em, and the NFL is not like that. Even the bad teams, you’ve got to come to play or you can lose the game, and god forbid we lost to Carolina, because Carolina is a bad team."
It was a desperately needed win for the Saints, and it frankly didn't matter who the opponent was. After three consecutive losses that had the Saints freefalling in the NFC South race, New Orleans got the win they needed and a loss by the Falcons. The top three teams are now tied at 6-7 in the division, with the Saints closing out the season against the Bucs in Week 17 and the Falcons in Week 18.
“You’ve got to stay in the hunt. You’ve got to keep fighting," the Cajun Cannon continued. "Now, you’ve got to take care of the sorry Giants next Sunday, but it is the NFL. You’ve got to take care of business."
No matter what way you slice it though, the Panthers team the Saints defeated this week is in shambles. At 1-12, Carolina has already fired their first-year head coach Frank Reich. The team went all-in to trade up for Bryce Young, who was less efficient than when the Saints saw him back in Week 2, completing just 13-36 passes for 137 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked 4 times.
In a weak NFC South, Carolina is the lowest of the low.
“I can see why Carolina only won one game. We might be the weakest division, the NFC South, but Carolina, out of 32 teams, no they’re the worst," Hebert continued. "Carolina is bad, but again, it’s a game. It’s a victory. We swept them. Well that’s what, if we are at least trending in the right direction, you’ve got to beat a sorry ass team like Carolina, and we did that."
