The New Orleans Saints are now 1-7 after a 23-3 loss to the Bucs, and unfortunately it was a movie we've watched before.
There were moments of positivity, such as an impressive goal-line stand to prefer a scoreless tie. Then head-scratching stretches of play that completely undo the positives, like the pick-6 thrown two plays later. It's all culminated in a stretch of football that's left fans and the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert frustrated and with few acceptable answers to find.
"Nothing to write home about, because our defense, great goal line stands when you look at that, that was monumental, but wouldn’t you know it, we get a great goal line stand, then we get a pick-six," Hebert said in his postgame rant. "You take one step forward, two steps back, then all of a sudden you're losing 7-0, so it’s just, a lot of undisciplined [football].”

The pick-6 was the most damaging, but it was just one of four turnovers on the day. The others included fumbles by Spencer Rattler as he scrambled on the opening possession, a fumble by Rashid Shaheed as he ran after a catch, and an interception that was a product of Chris Olave dropping a pass.
That final turnover was credited to rookie Tyler Shough, who took over at quarterback midway through the third quarter with Kellen Moore looking for a "spark" for his offense. The ball moved, but the Saints didn't put any more points on the board.
"We still had stupid penalties. We don’t know how to line up," Hebert continued. "We’re in the NFL, we’re pros. We’ve been practicing, OTAs, minicamp, training camp, look, alignment, it’s amazing and it’s so frustrating when you get to that point."
The Saints' next chance to get things right will come after a trip out west to face the L.A. Rams, and the big decision will come in whether they stick with Shough or turn back to Rattler.
