The Saints muscle car in the backfield looks fine tuned for 2020 and has been running hot. The Black & Gold’s high performance Camaro, Alvin Kamara, would like to remind everyone that he should be in the conversation of ‘who is the top running back in the National Football League?’
Through the first quarter of the 2020 season, Kamara is leading the league in yards from scrimmage and touchdowns; as he seems to be able to slow down & speed up time at will to get past defenders.
AK has rushed the ball 50 times for 236 yards, but is also a key cog in the passing attack, where he’s caught 30 passes for another 321 yards.
“Being in the slot, lining up out wide; whatever I’ve got to do,” explained Kamara. It’s a lot of information, it is what it is. As many ways as I can get the ball, be a decoy, whatever. If it makes the concept work, it is what it is.”
AK’s prowess in prime time, Monday night, against the LA Chargers could result in another big game for the back. While the Bolts are the only team in the league that still have yet to allow a rushing touchdown to a running back, it’s not like they are shutting down the run completely, allowing 4.32 yards per carry. Plus, his pass catching skills are primo. Kamara ranks 11th in the NFL in receiving yards and is the only RB within the top 50.
