New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Jameis Winston started the second half against the 49ers.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees finished the first half 8-of-13 for 76 yards and touchdown and showed no signs of an apparent injury but remained on the sideline when New Orleans took the field for the start of the third quarter.
Winston's only other game action this season came in the Saints 38-3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
He completed the only pass he threw for 12 yards in that game.
