The New Orleans Saints dropped their second-straight game Sunday as they lost 32-29 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs took a 7-0 lead when Patrick Mahomes connected with Tyreek Hill for a five-yard touchdown. The score capped a seven-play, 36-yard drive that was started when former Louisiana Tech safety intercepted a Drew Brees pass intended for Lil’Jordan Humphrey.
The Chiefs opened the second quarter with a 1-yard Travis Kelce touchdown to give Kansas City a 14-0 lead.
New Orleans finally got on the board with 10:21 to play in the second quarter when Taysom Hill scored on a 1-yard run. The touchdown was set up by a 51-yard completion from Brees to Emmanuel Sanders.
New Orleans made it 14-9 with three seconds to play in the half when Craig Robertson forced Chiefs punt returner Demarcus Robinson fumble, which was forced by Saints linebacker Craig Robertson, went out of the back of the end zone while Alex Anzalone tried to recover it.
New Orleans opened the second half with a score when Brees found Latavius Murray for a 24-yard touchdown pass. The Saints’ two-point attempt failed leaving them with a 15-14 lead after the four-play, 75-yard drive.
The Chiefs quickly regained the lead when Mahomes found Mecole Hardman with a 5-yard touchdown pass in the back of the endzone to cap a nine-play, 75-yard drive.
Kansas City went up 29-15 early in the fourth quarter when Le’Veon Bell scored on a 12-yard run.
The Saints were able to narrow the lead to just seven with 9:43 to play when Kamara scored on 14-yard touchdown pass from Brees.
The Chiefs made it a two-score game once again with 4:18 to play when Harrison Butker connected on a 22-yard field goal to make it 32-22.
The Saints were able to narrow the lead once again when Brees connected with Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a 17-yard touchdown pass.
