Kansas running back and former Hahnville standout Pooka Williams said Friday, following his Pro Day workout, that the New Orleans Saints are one of the roughly five NFL teams that he’s talked to so so far.
“I had a meeting with them (this week),” Williams said. “…the conversation went well.”
Williams said he’s expecting to be asked about the Saints a lot as he navigates the draft process but said he’s ready to play for whichever team selects him in the 2021 NFL Draft.
“I don’t care where I go as long as I get in the door,” he said, later adding. “Whenever I do get drafted, called my name, I’m going to prove myself. It don’t matter what round I go.”
Williams finished his Kansas career with over 2,500 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging roughly 5.7 yards per carry.
He opted out of his junior season after four games and said he’s mostly been focusing on preparing for his pro day, which he felt went well.
Now he said he focused on making sure he realizes his life long dream of playing in the NFL.
