NFL teams had until late Wednesday morning to pull the trigger on waiver claims for players sent packing on cutdown day, and one well known Saints player is officially headed out of town.
The Carolina Panthers claimed guard Calvin Throckmorton, who had spent his first two seasons in New Orleans, appearing in 31 games and starting 20. He was one of three claims by the Panthers.
The news means the remaining players waived are now eligible to join the team's 16-man practice squad if they so choose, a handful of those signing already rolling in as of early Wednesday afternoon.
Throckmorton joins a Panthers roster that is littered with former Saints, including S Vonn Bell, DT David Onyemata and QB Andy Dalton.
