The New Orleans Saints had a formal interview with former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, according to multiple reports.
Jones told the limited media in attendance that really enjoyed the meeting the Saints.
The Saints could potentially be looking for a quarterback in this upcoming draft as New Orleans, currently, only has Taysom Hill committed to return for the 2021 season. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston is set to become a free agent, although Saints coach Sean Payton has said the team wants to bring him back, and starter Drew Brees is reportedly expected to retire.
The Heisman Trophy finalist has impressed at the week’s practice with many national pundits highlighting him as a standout performer.
Jones, 6-foot-3, 214-pounds, helped lead Alabama to a National Championship this year as he completed 77.4 percent of his passes for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
