The New Orleans Saints picked up a dominant 38-3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday night.
The Saints got on the board first when Drew Brees capped a nine-play, 65-yard drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith.
New Orleans found the end zone again at the end of the first quarter when Brees found rookie tight end Adam Trautman for a 7-yard touchdown pass.
Brees added made it a 21-0 lead with 11:44 to play in the half with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders who was receiving his first game action in two weeks after being out with COVID-19.
On the ensuing drive, David Onyemata recorded his first career interception when he picked off a pass fromTom Brady that was deflected by Marcus Davenport. That turnover set up a 1-yard touchdown run from Alvin Kamara giving the Saints a 28-0 lead.
New Orleans padded the lead with a 36-yard Wil Lutz field goal with just 1:49 to play in the first half.
With 57 seconds to play in the first half Marcus Williams intercepted a pass from Brady that was intended for Antonio Brown and the Saints took a 31-0 lead Ito the locker room at halftime.
Tampa Bay’s Shaq Barrett forced a Drew Brees fumble and Brady drove the ball to the Saints 1-yard line. New Orleans defense was able to get a fourth down stop.
Just before the end of the third quarter, Brady threw his third pick of the game this one to Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins.
Brees threw his fourth touchdown pass of the night in the fourth quarter this one to tight end Josh Hill in the fourth quarter.
Tampa Bay avoided the shut out with a 48-yard Ryan Succop field goal with 5:52 to play in the game.
