Saints CB Patrick Robinson: 'When I get my chance to get in, I've got to do my part'

When the Saints have called Patrick Robinson’s number this season, he’s produced.

The veteran cornerback is tied for the team lead with two interceptions despite playing significantly less snaps than New Orleans’ other DBs.

Robinson has played in just 27 percent of the Saints defensive snaps, but the former first-round pick out of Florida State said his goal has been to make the most of whatever playing time he receives this season.

"I'm trying to win another Super Bowl,” he said. “So when I get my chance to get in, I've got to do my part. If I want to get to that goal, of being a Super Bowl champ again."

Robinson won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. He signed with New Orleans following that season but battled injuries in since returning to the franchise that drafted him in 2010.

The former Florida State standout is healthy this season and demonstrating his playmaking ability when given the opportunity.

In addition to the two picks, Robinson has also logged four pass break ups and nine tackles. He said staying ready to play has been key to his impressive play.

"Just staying healthy for the most part. That's the main thing,” he said. “And just studying my playbook, you know, studying film and doing what I have to do. So, when my chance comes, I'm good to go."

Robinson said that mentality is something he’s learned through his 11-year NFL career.

"When I was young, I was just going out there just playing football and not really thinking about it,” Robinson said. “But now, I have to stay ready, staying in the playbook, trying to stay healthy. So, that's what I've learned over the years."
