Saints DE Cam Jordan's foundation announces 4 full scholarships for local students
Cam Jordan's impact on the New Orleans community keeps growing.
Entering Year 15 with the Saints, Jordan's foundation reached a new milestone this week when they announced four full-tuition scholarships for outstanding local students. The scholarships will cover $12,500 for tuition and other support at their choice of in-state schools. The students will also be supported with a host of development resources.
"This is what legacy looks like," Jordan said in a news release. "We're not just giving out scholarships -- we're walking alongside these students, investing in their future, and building something that will impact Louisiana for generations to come."
The students, picked from a large pool of applicants, includes:
- Tikera Fields
- Mikah Fuller
- Ja'Nika Stanley
- Ivan Smith
The recipients were based on academic achievement, financial need and demonstrated commitment to service and leadership. Jordan was part of the process of selecting the finalists, which he spoke about last month after a celebration at city hall that declared Cam Jordan day official.
"You sort of emulate what you see. If you see somebody who is always giving back, you sort of want to give that," Jordan said. "That’s exactly where my servitude came from, by watching my parents … so, for me, the moment I came to New Orleans I was trying to figure out how best can I help serve my community."
