Derek Carr expected to start for Saints vs Bucs despite shoulder injury: reports

Derek Carr might be dealing with a shoulder injury, but it appears that won't stop him from taking the field in Week 4 against the Bucs.

Barring any setbacks, the Saints are expected to allow Carr to take the field for a key divisional showdown at the Caesars Superdome, according to reports.

The question was looming all week after Carr suffered an AC joint sprain early in the second half against the Packers. Jameis Winston took over but the Saints were unable to muster any offense and relinquished a three-score lead in an 18-17 loss. Winston took first-team reps throughout the week, but Carr was able to throw on Friday.

Head coach Dennis Allen kept the option for Carr to start on the table all week, and said the QB would be evaluated on Saturday to see how he responded to Friday's work before any decision was made. Carr also threw during the Saints' light practice on Saturday, according to Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com.

The Saints (2-1) and Bucs (2-1) face off in a pivotal NFC South showdown at noon, with the winner moving into the catbird seat of the division.
