It's hard to miss for anyone who decides to log onto social media these days: New Orleans Saints fans are not happy with the coaching staff, and that goes across the board.
But the man leading that group doesn't anticipate any major changes, even with the Saints all but eliminated from postseason contention as they enter their Week 14 bye and with four games left to play.
"I don't see any dramatic changes happening," head coach Dennis Allen said. "When you're sitting and really going into week 14, we've played 13 weeks and we're going into our 14th game. I don't think any drastic changes are what's going to fix the win-loss column."
It's a sensible approach, considering that while the final four games might not ultimately matter for any postseason consideration, they could be an important factor in offseason decisions that will very much have to include potential changes to the coaching staff. The Saints have a week off, then return to host the Falcons, travel to face the Browns on Christmas even, then the NFC-leading Philadelphia Eagles on New Year's Day before a season finale against the Panthers.
The offense has flagged in recent weeks, but Allen also said he's not currently considering a quarterback change from Andy Dalton to Jameis Winston, pointing to Dalton's solid performance even in the losing effort.
An area Allen pointed to in a positive light was the constant effort throughout the game, singling out Cam Jordan. The veteran DE flashed in the second half when he chased down Bucs RB Rachaad White to force one of the turnovers that have been ever-so-elusive for this Saints squad. Demario Davis also nabbed an interception off Tom Brady, marking the first time since Week 1 this defense forced multiple turnovers in a game.
The bigger question is the offense, though, led by Pete Carmichael. Allen said he has confidence in that side of the ball, as well.
"We're doing some good things offensively. But yet, we have a couple of opportunities to make some plays, we don't make them," Allen said. "And then, situationally, we've got to we've got to be better. Look, I've got confidence in our offense. I've got confidence in what we're doing. I think we just have to be more consistent in what we're doing."
