The Saints are again facing disciplinary action for violating the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols, according to a report from the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
The punishment will be the team’s third and is reportedly related to running back Alvin Kamara’s positive COVID-19 test which kept him and the rest of the Saints running backs out of the team’s Week 17 matchup with the Carolina Panthers.
Per the report, the NFL obtained surveillance video of Kamara interacting with someone, who wasn’t a Saints employee, that turned out to have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Athletic’s Jeff Duncan reports that the Saint don’t think this interaction led to Kamara’s positive test but that the presence of the person violates the league’s protocols.
The Saints were twice disciplined prior by the NFL for violating the COVID-19 protocols.
The franchise and Payton were fined a combine $350,000 for improper mask use on the sidelines during their Week 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
New Orleans was fined again and docked a draft pick following video of their massless celebrations following a 38-3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
