Saints head coach Kellen Moore was quick to rule out Cam Jordan for Week 1, but there is hope that his absence won't stretch out much longer.
The veteran defensive end was a limited participant in Friday's session, the first time he's seen the practice field in over a month as he works back from a hamstring injury. Regardless, Jordan is one of three players ruled out for the game, along with TE Oscar Delp and RB Audric Estime.
"It's just a day-by-day process," head coach Kellen Moore said. "[Jordan has] just going through the evaluation part of this thing. He's doing a great job. ... It's a step in the right direction, for sure."
The only player with a status to watch will be RB Alvin Kamara, who was upgraded to a full participant but listed as questionable for the matchup against the Lions. Moore said Kamara would make the trip with the team, regardless.

There was also a Jordyn Tyson sighting during the portion of Friday's practice open to the media. He could be seen in jersey pants and a black shirt doing handshake routines with teammates. The attire isn't an indicator of his status, though. It just meant it was team picture day. Tyson is starting the season on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury suffered during the joint practice with the Jaguars and will not be eligible to return until Week 5 against the Vikings, though he would be eligible to return to practice a week prior.
On the other side, the Lions only have one player listed as questionable, though they will also be without a few key players like safety Brian Branch and RB Isiah Pacheco, who are on PUP and IR, respectively. Here's how the Lions injury report broke down on Friday:
