Saints final Week 3 injury report: Chase Young ruled out again; Penning, Fuaga questionable

The New Orleans Saints shipped out to Seattle for their first road test of the season, but their injury concerns have traveled with them.

The team ruled out DE Chase Young (calf) for a third consecutive game as he works back from an injury suffered during the first practice ahead of Week 1, continuing a frustrating start to the season for a player that signed a big-money extension in the offseason and looked primed for a breakout year.

Young did travel with the team to Seattle, but was ruled out early in the day ahead of the team's scheduled practice at the University of Washington on Friday afternoon. The Saints also ruled out veteran guard Dillon Radunz (toe) who did not travel with the team.

Here's how the Thursday injury report of Week 3 broke down for the Saints:
LP = limited participation; FP = full participation; DNP = did not participate

- OT Taliese Fuaga (back): DNP | DNP | DNP - questionable
- OL Dillon Radunz (toe): DNP | DNP | DNP - out (did not travel)
- DE Chase Young (calf): DNP | DNP DNP - out
- WR Trey Palmer (hamstring): LP | DNP | DNP - out
- OT/G Trevor Penning (toe): LP | LP | LP - questionable
- WR Devaughn Vele (hip): LP | LP | LP - questionable

The Saints will have major questions along their offensive line, with Fuaga missing all three days of practice with a back issue, though he still hasn't been ruled out. If he can't go, expect Asim Richards to take over that role as he did to close out Week 1. Another question will be Trevor Penning, who practiced in a limited capacity all three days but hasn't seen action since he left the preseason opener with a toe injury. Moore said he would be the starter if healthy enough to play. If he can't go, expect to see UDFA Torricelli Simpkins slot in as a starter with Radunz unavailable.

The Seahawks have their own injury questions to navigate, with four players listed as doubtful, including a key RB and safety, though none have been ruled out as of Friday. Here's how their side of the injury report broke down heading into the weekend:

The Seahawks had not yet updated their Thursday injury report at the time of publication. Here's how it broke down on Wednesday:
- RB Zach Charbonnet (foot): DNP | DNP | DNP - doubtful
- S Nick Emmanwori (ankle): DNP | DNP | LP - doubtful
- S Julian Love (hamstring): DNP | DNP | LP - doubtful
- CB Devon Witherspoon (knee): DNP | DNP | LP - doubtful

- WR Tory Horton (groin): LP | LP | FP
- CB Josh Jobe (knee): LP | FP | FP

The Saints (0-2) hit the road for the first time this season to face the Seahawks (1-1). That game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. (central). Catch all the action on WWL and Audacy.
