The New Orleans Saints are on a three-game skid and significant frustration is beginning to creep into the picture. Nowhere could that be seen more clearly than in team owner Gayle Benson's speech earlier this week, where she decried the performance of the team as "not acceptable."
In that speech she namechecked both head coach Kellen Moore and Mickey Loomis and made it clear that she would do what was necessary to get the team back on track. The Saints have missed the postseason for five straight seasons and have started 1-4 with three straight home losses. Moore acknowledges on Wednesday that he was aware of the comments, but stopped short of any vow to make urgent changes.
“She like all of us, we all want better results and that’s how this business is and so we’ve got great guys in this building that are doing everything they can to find the formula," Moore said. "All we can control is moving forward as far as playing better, coaching better, giving ourself the opportunities moving forward and so I think our guys have the right mindset.”
The refrain is familiar and it mirrors what has been a staple of the Kellen Moore era -- in good ways and bad. There's no visible change in the head coach's words or actions after wins or losses, but there have also been consistent issues. The team is again among the worst in the league in terms of early game scoring. There have been turnovers, mistakes, untimely penalties and generally undisciplined football that has cost the team opportunities.

Moore said the words "moving forward" when he spoke to the media this week, making it clear the goal is to find better days ahead, starting with a road matchup against the Giants (3-1-1) in Week 6 before a long trip out to Paris to face the Steelers (3-2).
“I think we’re all in a results-based business," Moore said. "We all want the same thing. We’re all shooting for the same goals and aspirations and it’s about getting there together collectively and so that’s the focus of our group.”
