Saints initial injury report, Week 1: Willie Gay returns to practice
The 2024 regular season is here, and that means injury reports.
The New Orleans Saints got some good news with the return of linebacker Willie Gay (back) after a missed practice on Monday.
Teams are required to list their players' injuries and participation statuses on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of each game week, with Friday's report including gameday designations if they are questionable, doubtful or out.
Here's the initial injury report for the week (FP = full participation; LP = limited participation; DNP = did not participate)
- LB Pete Werner (shoulder): FP
- LB Willie Gay Jr. (back): LP
- CB Marshon Lattimore (hip): LP
- G Nick Saldiveri (calf): LP
- LB Jaylan Ford (hamstring): DNP
- LB D'Marco Jackson (calf): DNP
- DT Khalen Saunders (calf): DNP
- TE Dallin Holker (ankle): DNP
The status of Saunders, Jackson and Ford feels in doubt already considering they've missed several practices leading up to this one. Saldiveri and Lattimore still haven't practiced in full from the injuries they suffered early in camp. Holker would also feel unlikely to play, though he was in uniform and watching practice for the second consecutive day.
Here's how the injury situation stacks up on the Panthers' side of the equation.
- OT Yosuah Nijman (tibia): LP
- RB Miles Sanders (finger): LP
- TE Ian Thomas (calf): DNP
- TE Tommy Tremble (back/hamstring): DNP
The Saints and Panthers face off at noon Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
