The New Orleans Saints will be without veteran running back Jamaal Williams for at least a month, and they'll have at least one more starter to replace in Week 3.
Williams will head to injured reserve with a significant hamstring injury suffered in the first half the Week 2 win over the Panthers. Players placed on IR during the regular season must sit out at least four weeks before they are eligible to return to the active roster.
The news comes a week before the Saints get Alvin Kamara back from suspension, leaving Tony Jones Jr. and rookie Kendre Miller to lead the run game against the Packers.
Two more key Saints players have now been downgraded from questionable to "out" for Sunday's game in tight end Foster Moreau (ankle) and cornerback Paulson Adebo (hamstring). The absence of Adebo will be the biggest adjustment. The injury happened mid-week, limiting the amount of time to plan for his replacement. Backup Isaac Yiadom is the most likely candidate to step into that role, though the Saints could opt to shift Alontae Taylor from the slot to the outside position, with Ugo Amadi filling the slot corner role.
The Saints have also elevated CB Cam Dantzler and S Johnathan Abram from the practice squad for Week 3. The Saints were also busy on the contract from on Saturday, agreeing to terms with standout defensive end Carl Granderson on a 4-year contract extension.
