The New Orleans Saints stayed patient again to land another offensive weapon in Georgia TE Oscar Delp.
Brought to you by TRANESOUTH: It's hard to stop a Tranewww.audacy.comThe Saints selected the former Bulldog at No. 73, yet another addition on offense in a season that's been full of them. He'll join a suddenly crowded TE room that also includes Juwan Johnson and newly signed Noah Fant. Delp, who measured in at 6-5, 245 pounds at the combine, is a fluid athlete with size to be a plus blocker.
Delp was the seventh TE off the board and waited longer than he anticipated, but it was all more fuel than frustration.
"I wouldn’t say I was worried. It was more pissed off, you know, and I’m excited, you know. … Saints got a steal and I’m excited and there’s no place I’d rather be than there," he told WWL Radio. "I think a lot of people are going to learn that and I just can't wait to get down there and get to work.
He's a fluid athlete, though he was never a major factor in the Georgia passing game, logging just 24, 21 and 20 catches over the past three seasons, respectively. The limited usage was a product of doing what the team needed to win the most games, but Delp knows there's more to unlock.
"I’m a dude that can do it all and that’s why I’m so excited to play here, you know, whether it’s special teams, anywhere on offense," he said. "I’m a dude that can bring anything to the table and I think I’ve shown that over the past couple years and I’m just excited to play and win some games.”

Delp also came up playing lacrosse and had opportunities to follow that path in college like his father, who played at Rutgers.
"I feel like I’m a very athletic guy and just being able to do that, growing up, playing a physical, fast sport, like, toughness is one of the biggest things," he said. "I mean, there’s not many sports where you can just run around up and down the field and whack people with metal sticks.”
The Saints addressed both sides of the ball with their first two picks of the draft, landing star Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson at No. 8, followed by big DT Christen Miller out of Georgia. Delp said he and Miller have known each other since 8th grade and are excited to reunite. Miller was the first FaceTime he answered after the draft.
"It’s crazy just seeing it all come to life, the stuff we talked about and joked about," Delp said. "We’ve probably been out there during the Sugar Bowl week saying we’re both going to end up in New Orleans, just joking around, and you know, to be able to go there with him and go through this process with him, I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.”
The Saints, for the second year in a row, opted not to swing any trades on the first two days of the draft. Prior to the 2025 season they had executed at least one trade for 12 consecutive seasons. New Orleans won't pick against until Saturday, barring trades, when they own five selections including 132 and 136 overall.
