It appears that a video of Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas deadlifting 530-pounds has drawn interest from the NFL’s drug testing department.
After posting the video above, Thomas reportedly revealed the league quickly reached out to inform him he was “randomly” selected to take part in a performance enhancing substance test.
“Michael, this is Gary on behalf of the NFL,” the message read. “You have been selected for an off-season PES (performance Enhancing Substance) urine test tomorrow morning. Please contact me ASAP to set up a meeting.”
Something similar happened to punter Blake Gillikin after he boomed an 81 yard punt in Green Bay during the preseason.
Back to Thomas, who played 3 games last season then dislocated his 2nd toe in Carolina and was done. Before that, the star had been working back from an ankle injury that haunted him since the end of the season opener against Tampa Bay in 2020. Add it all up and injuries have limited one of the NFL’s elite offensive weapons to just 10 games the last 3 seasons.
Hopefully, the only thing Mike T’s urine test reveals is a positive bill of health for the 30-year-old this coming season.
