The New Orleans Saints don't have a new face in the RB room after all.
A day after claiming All Pro returner Kene Nwangwu off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings, he's been waived again, this time with a failed physical designation.
That leaves the Saints with just one return ace in Rashid Shaheed, and they'll still have to decide who is best to put next to him in the new return format. The RB room now consists of Alvin Kamara, Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims, with Kendre Miller on injured reserve and out at least the first four weeks of the season.
Defensive tackle John Ridgeway was in action at Thursday's practice, having been acquired in a trade with the Washington Commanders.
The Saints also made a pair of practice squad moves on Thursday, signing former Browns TE Treyton Welch and former LSU offensive tackle Austin Deculus to the practice squad and terminating the contract of Mason Fairchild, who signed with the team midway through camp.
The Saints will take the next three days off (Friday-Sunday) before returning on Monday in game week mode before the Week 1 clash against the Panthers.
