Derek Carr was once again forced out of a New Orleans Saints game with an injury.
The veteran quarterback took a hard hit in the fourth quarter from Bruce Irving of the Detroit Lions on Sunday and was on the ground for several minutes, being evaluated by trainers before ultimately leaving the game.
The cart was brought out, but Carr ultimately walked off the field under his own power before heading back to the locker room. The Saints ruled him doubtful to return as he was placed in concussion protocol and cited with shoulder and back injuries.
Jameis Winston replaced Carr for the remainder of the game, which ended in a 33-28 Saints loss after the Saints failed to rally in a game they trailed 21-0 midway through the first quarter.
It is the third time this season Carr has been knocked out of a game due to a hard hit being driven into the ground. He had left a Week 10 game against the Vikings after taking a huge hit from Danielle Hunter, who drove him into the ground, and also left early during a Week 3 loss to the Packers.
