After Marcus Williams signed with the Baltimore Ravens, the New Orleans Saints addressed their newfound void in the secondary by signing former Jets safety Marcus Maye.
The Saints inked Maye to a three-year, $28.5 million deal with $15 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
It’s a rather generous deal for Maye, a 2017 second-round pick of the Jets who played last season on the franchise tag; he only managed to appear in six games before tearing his Achilles in Week 8, thus ending his season.
In five seasons with the Jets, Maye had six interceptions, 24 pass deflections, four forced fumbles and 3.5 sacks.

He will be tasked with big shoes to fill in Marcus Williams, who was a key cog in the Saints’ secondary the last five seasons, accumulating 15 interceptions in that span.
Maye’s departure from the Jets means the team no longer has anyone on the roster from its 2017 draft class.
