The New Orleans Saints have added a new face in the linebacker room as they kick off organized team activities this week.

The Saints announced Wednesday that they had signed LB Jackson Sirmon, the son of linebackers coach Peter Sirmon. The Saints waived CB Jeremiah McClendon to clear space on the roster.

The signing comes at a position that appeared thin throughout the offseason. Heading into the day the Saints only had five linebackers on the roster in Pete Werner, Kaden Elliss, Danny Stutsman, Jaylan Ford and Isaiah Stalbird. An addition at the position felt likely, if for nothing more than a player to absorb reps throughout camp.

Sirmon appeared in 51 games across stops with Cal and Washington, where he compiled 301 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 7 PBUs and a pair of interceptions. He was originally signed as a UDFA by the Jets ahead of the 2024 season and spent the majority of the last two years on New York's practice squad. He did appear in one game during the 2025 season.

Peter Sirmon has been the Saints linebackers coach since last season.

The Saints kick off the first of three OTA sessions this week as they build toward the start of the regular season. They'll hold a pair of practices each of the next two weeks, followed by a two-day mandatory minicamp on June 16 and 17.
