Saints sign rookie Isaiah Foskey to 4-year deal; entire rookie class now under contract

The New Orleans Saints rookies are now all under contract.

Second-round pick Isaiah Foskey signed his 4-year deal with the Saints Wednesday morning, a day after rookies reported ahead of training camp, which begins next week.

The deal means all seven rookies are under contract, though RB Kendre Miller and WR A.T. Perry are expected to begin camp on the Non-Football Injury list, and OL Nick Saldiveri on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Foskey's delayed contract is not unusual for second-round selections, who have some room to negotiate over how much money is guaranteed in the deal. Alontae Taylor also waited to sign his deal a year ago, and indicated he was waiting to see how the deals for other picks around his slot broke down. Foskey's 4-year deal will be worth $8.7 million with a signing bonus of $3.35 million.

Despite being unsigned, Foskey was in attendance and working at rookie minicamp, all three sets of OTAs and the mandatory minicamp in June. He'll likely be expected to contribute in Year 1 within a group headlined by Cam Jordan. One of Foskey, Payton Turner and Carl Granderson will have to start across from Jordan, and that will likely be determined in camp.

Foskey was the No. 40 overall selection out of Notre Dame, where he played his first three seasons under current LSU head coach Brian Kelly.

With all the rookies reported, the next step is players with injury designations reporting on Thursday (July 20), followed by veterans reporting on Tuesday (July 25). The first practice is the next day on Wednesday, July 26.
