The New Orleans Saints could potentially be very thin at the WR position as they head to Miami for a matchup with the Dolphins.
Chris Olave walked off early with a trainer at Wednesday's practice favoring his left leg. He's been listed on the injury report with a back issue.
“He just had a little thing with the back, limited him today, no big deal,” head coach Kellen Moore said.
The Saints recently traded Rashid Shaheed to the Seahawks and waived Brandin Cooks, who has since signed with the Bills. If Olave can't go it'll mean a WR room led by Devaughn Vele and Mason Tipton, with Kevin Austin Jr. Dante Pettis, who has served as the punt returner the last two weeks as a practice squad elevation, was also working off to the side with a trainer.
The only other absence on the day was RB Alvin Kamara, who is dealing with a knee injury.
Here's how the initial injury report broke down on Wednesday:
LP = limited participation; FP = full participation; DNP = did not participate
- RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle): DNP
- OT Taliese Fuaga (ankle): LP
- RB Devin Neal (ankle): LP
- WR Chris Olave (back): LP
Fuaga continues to be limited as he works back from an ankle injury that's kept him out the past two weeks. Devin Neal was also limited, significant considering the likely absence of Alvin Kamara after a significant knee injury.
Here's how the Dolphins side of the injury report shaped up to start the week:
- OL Aaron Brewer (foot/ankle): LP
- LB Bradley Chubb (foot): LP
- CB Rasul Douglas (foot/ankle): LP
- OL Austin Jackson (toe): LP
- DT Benito Jones (ankle): LP
- WR Jaylen Waddle (foot): LP
- TE Darren Waller (pectoral): LP
- WR Dee Eskridge (shoulder): FP
- LB Matthew Judon (knee): FP
- S Ifeatu Melifonwu (thumb): FP
