NFL icon Drew Brees has called it a playing career after 20 years in the league, the last 15 in New Orleans. His will be known as one of the greatest to ever play the game after battling back from a career threatening shoulder injury, the same way he battled to help bring a city back from devastation.
“So much more than X's and O's. Just a great guy on and off the field,” former Saints wide receiver Lance Moore told WWL’s Sports Talk when asked what Breese means to New Orleans.
“Somebody that has singlehandedly almost been a beacon of hope, for not just the New Orleans Saints organization, but the whole Gulf region. He was basically a guy that after Hurricane Katrina, gave people something good to look forward to.”
Moore went thru it all as well from 2006 to 2013 in New Orleans. He caught 67% of the 518 targets thrown his way for 4,281 yards and 38 touchdowns building a strong bond and trust with the Saints signal caller.
“He's the epitome of what you ask for in a franchise quarterback and a leader of an organization and just being a good human being and giving back to the community. The list goes on and on and on about all of the great things that this guy has done and the things that he meant to that organization.”
“We don't win a Super Bowl without Drew Brees. We aren't the winning franchise that we are nowadays without a Drew Brees. And, I honestly don't know that New Orleans is the same place that it is today without a Drew Brees.
