Shade gets thrown a lot in the New Orleans-Atlanta rivalry whenever the Saints and Falcons meet. It’s one of the more heated rivalries in the NFL, even if it’s been a bit one-sided of late.
Back in 2012 the Saints bus was egged by airport workers after the team landed in Atlanta and began their route to the team hotel. There was another time when Remi Ayodele claimed he peed on the Falcons logo after a game. And possibly the most heated punch came a few years ago when Saints fans pasted the message “28-3” on a billboard directly outside Mercedes- Benz Stadium.
Rarely though, do the teams get too involved in throwing shade. Which make Sunday’s instance all that more fun.
With New Orleans in Atlanta for Week 13 action, the scoreboard operators in Mercedes-Benz Stadium did not use the Saints name, instead just posts “visitor” in lights.
You know it’s a good rivalry when the home team won’t put the opponent’s name on the scoreboard. pic.twitter.com/2nEaGF5npU
