Teddy Bridgewater only spent two seasons in New Orleans, but even the most casual observer could tell the connection was stronger than the time.

After a year spent with the Carolina Panthers, the former Saints quarterback has been named the starter for the Denver Broncos. But he took a moment to share a message to his former home as it picks up the pieces after Hurricane Ida tore through the state and left much of south Louisiana in the dark.

"Just sending my condolences and prayers out to those affected by the hurricane in New Orleans," Bridgewater said. "I was able to spend 2 years out there, and I grew to appreciate some of the people out there."

The Saints' official account had a message to send in return: "Nothing but love for Teddy Two Gloves."

Bridgewater served as Drew Brees' backup both seasons, but earned cult hero status in 2019 as he led the Saints to a perfect 5-0 record after Brees went down with a thumb injury that required surgery.

He had his share of viral moments and cheers of "TED-DY, TED-DY, TE-DDY" that rained down from the Superdome seats even after Brees returned from injury. They were their loudest when he was shown on the stadium's big screen as "Choppa Style" blared from the speakers.

Bridgewater signed a 3-year, $63 million deal with the Panthers the following offseason, and was traded to the Broncos in April, where he beat out Drew Lock in an offseason battle for the starting QB job.

The current version of the Saints are currently located in Dallas after evacuation ahead of Ida, where they'll share TCU's facility in Fort Worth to prepare for the season. The NFL and Saints announced Wednesday that they'd hold their season-opener against the Green Bay Packers at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, but are hopeful to return to New Orleans and the Caesars Superdome for the remaining home games on the schedule.
