We will never see Drew Brees play against the Falcons again if he decides to retire at the end of this season. The Saints have placed him on injured reserve, meaning Brees will miss at least 3 games that include both matchups against Atlanta.
While a number of reports claim that Taysom Hill has been dubbed the starting QB for week 11’s NFL South showdown with Atlanta; coach Payton wasn’t ready to divulge that information.
“I haven’t announced that either one of those two are starting,” Payton explains about Hill and Jameis Winston. When pressed again about it he explained the team knows, he just doesn’t want us knowing.
“Someone has been named the starter. We haven’t announced it. Is that alright?”
Tight end Josh Hill (concussion) and running back Dwyane Washongton (back) are also out this game, while Marshon Latimore is questionable due to an abdomen injury. The team’s top corner was able to take part as a limited practice participant all week.
Alvin Kamara, Cam Jordan, Ryan Ramczyk and Tre’Quan Smith were all a full go on Friday meaning they are ready to play. Smith was seen wearing a non-contact jersey during Thursday’s session but shed that during Friday’s workout. He had taken a nasty hit to the head against the 49ers that caused a concussion, yet somehow drew no flag.
Saints Sunday on WWL starts on First Take with Steve Korte & Steve Geller at 8am, followed by the Bud Light Countdown to Kickoff at 10am with the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert and guest host Mike Detillier. That leads you up to gametime with Zach Strief & Deuce McAllister in booth, so turn down your TV and turn up the sound of WWL Saints radio.
