Watch: Saints 7th round pick's draft reaction will make you want to run through a wall
The New Orleans Saints made seven picks in the 2024 draft and every one had their own unique, emotional way to react to the news that their NFL dreams would be coming true.
But after waiting three full days and watching 238 players be selected, the reaction of Eastern Kentucky's Josiah Ezirim when he answered a call from a 504 area code just hits a bit different.
Leaning forward in a massage chair and surrounded by family and friends, Ezirim kept his cool over the phone while speaking to the Saints draft trust, but his body language said different. The second the phone call ended the big OT dropped his phone to the ground, clapped his hands and leapt out of the chair, screaming "let's go" as the group erupted around him.
The celebration was so intense that it appeared the TV came unplugged and during the scramble to get it back on, it seemed the group realized they hadn't even found out where he was drafted to.
"It's really exciting that they believed in me and decided to pick me up," Ezirim said during his post-draft call with WWL Radio. Listen to that full interview in the player above. Can't see the embed? Click here.
Ezirim, an offensive tackle prospect who was shifted from defensive tackle midway through his college career, was the 7th and final selection of the Saints in the 2024 draft. That group also included Oregon State OT Taliese Fuaga at No. 14 overall.
