Week 17 has arrived! The NFL made it to the regular season finale, something many didn’t believe we’d ever get to because of the cursed pandemic. The Saints found a way to get the job done and are exactly where they expected to be; fighting for the top seed in the NFC.
With something to play for, Drew Brees will see snaps in one final “tune-up” game before the start postseason play. It will be his 3rd game back off inured reserve from multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung.
Week 15 vs KC 15-34, 234 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT
Week 16 vs MIN 19-26, 311 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INT
“I felt like we moved the ball extremely well, both on the ground and through the air,” Brees said about the Vikings win on Christmas Day.
“We didn't punt the whole game, had what, 580 yards or something in total offense. So, we were moving the ball. We were rolling, we were doing what we wanted to do.”
Despite not having a touchdown pass and 2 turnovers in the mauling of Minnesota, Brees still looked a lot sharper completing 73% of his passes.
“I think there's definitely more to be desired. There's definitely room for improvement, especially as we kind of get to this last game and on our way into the playoffs. But, I think I'm pleased with the progress."
If Brees and the Saints are able to win in Carolina Sunday, they will sweep the entire NFC South in 2020. That is something no team in the division has ever accomplished and would be another record filed in the annals of football history that Drew Brees is a part of.
