Shaq reignites beef with Dwight Howard: 'Sit yo ass down'

Dwight Howard finally got his elusive NBA championship this year with the Lakers, prompting the veteran center to deliver an emotional speech on Instagram Live to never give up on your dreams.

Yet, at least one person appeared to take an issue with what seemed like a motivational message.

Shaquille O’Neal, a noted critic of Howard, appeared to take a shot at the Lakers center on “The Big Podcast with Shaq” earlier this week.

“You know what I don’t like as a player? There’s a lot of players on Instagram bragging like they were the reason they got the championship,” O’Neal said. “I ain’t going to say no names.”

O’Neal did not have to in order for his co-hosts to know he was referring to Howard.

“Sit yo ass down,” O’Neal added. “You didn’t do nothing. Stop it. … I know you know who I’m talking about. Stop it. Frontrunner. Bandwagon jumper. … Post one pic and sit yo ass down.”

O’Neal, who won four NBA titles – three with the Lakers – has been critical of Howard throughout most of his career, questioning his attitude and taking issue with others referring to Howard as “Superman” – a nickname Shaq feels belongs exclusively to him within the NBA.

Howard, 34, averaged 15.7 minutes per game in the playoffs for the Lakers, including 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. His best game came in the Western Conference Finals against the Nuggets when he scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds along with an assist and steal in 22 minutes of action.

“He played well, he did all right,” O’Neal later said. “He didn’t do nothing.”
