Tom Brady will reportedly get every Wednesday off for rest of season

Tom Brady is taking on a reduced workload this season.

After spending 11 days away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during training camp, the 45-year-old will also take every Wednesday off for the rest of the season, according to NFL Network.

The report comes following Brady not practicing with the team this past Wednesday after the Bucs’ Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

On Brady’s “Let’s Go!” podcast, he admitted to feeling more sore than usual the morning after the victory.

In the past, Brady has taken Thursdays off but not every single week.

With Brady out on Wednesdays, backup Blaine Gabbert will take the first-team reps in his place.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles spoke about players receiving rest days on Friday, stressing the importance for veterans like Brady.

“For most players, it’s important,” he said. “But I think when you play in the league a certain amount of time and you prepare a certain way, it’s not necessary to practice that guy all the time. You’re going to practice, but you’re not going to practice all the time. You’ll get a day off her and there because it is a long season.”
