For the second straight year, a small town in West Baton Rouge Parish has been named the safest in the state.
Addis topped the list compiled by Safewise.com of the “10 Safest Cities in Louisiana.”
The town of under 6,000 people logged just 1.6 violent crimes for every 1,000 people along with a nearly non-existent property crime rate of 0.2 per 1,000 residents.
Harahan holds the #2 spot, also for a second consecutive year. Youngsville, Mandeville and Tallulah round out the top five in that order.
Closing out the top 10 are Westwego, Rayne, Scott, Carencro and Kenner.
The site only ranks cities with populations that fall above the median population for the state, and uses crime data reported to the FBI. Cities whose data has not been reported are also ineligible for the rankings.
New Orleans ranked 34th out of 42 eligible cities.
