At least 3 dead as authorities respond to active shooter incident in northwest Austin

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities are responding to an "active shooter incident" in northwest Austin early Sunday afternoon that has resulted in at least three deaths.

Austin-Travis County EMS, Austin Police, and Austin Fire have all responded to the scene in the Arboretum area, in the 9660 block of Great Hills Trail near Rain Creek Parkway just before 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

EMS says a total of 3 patients have been pronounced deceased on the scene. Medics say there are no initial reports of other patients, but are staging nearby to enter the area once it is secured. At least 15 ATCEMS assets are on scene, officials said.

Police have activated reverse 911 and the WarnCentralTexas alert system to advise residents in the area to shelter in place.
