Business: Air travelers should expect delays this summer

Just as hundreds of thousands of travelers return to the skies, many of the old inconveniences and aggravations of commercial airline travel are back, too. And experts say travelers should expect ongoing problems throughout the summer.

Long lines at security checkpoints, disruptive passengers and lengthy flight delays and cancellations are again greeting air travelers.


Passengers on American Airlines have had it especially rough, with the airline canceling hundreds of flights in recent days because of staffing shortages and what the airline calls "unprecedented weather."

Alabama has landed the first graphite processing plant in the U.S. The state reached an agreement with Westwater Resources Inc., a Colorado-based mineral resources company, to build a plant in Coosa County.

Construction will start later this year and the plant is slated to be operational by the end of 2022. It will produce 7,500 tons of battery-grade graphite each year.
