Airline CEOs are calling on the top transportation officials of the U.S. and U.K. to swiftly reopen transatlantic airways and ease travel restrictions to boost both nations’ economies. The heads of American, Delta, United, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and JetBlue are calling for a summit between the countries to launch a reopening plan.
Carnival Cruise Line has announced schedule shifts, canceling some cruises as it jockeys to restart some sailings in U.S. waters in July on select ships. Carnival says it hopes to begin operating its Vista and Breeze ships from Galveston, and Horizon from Miami. Given that there is uncertainty as to whether those sailings will happen, travelers who have booked those voyages may cancel without penalty by May 31 to receive a full refund.
Just over a year after collapsing crude prices forced oil-exporting countries to enact historic production cuts, the supply glut that accrued during the most extreme pandemic restrictions has almost returned to normal levels. The International Energy Agency today cut its 2021 global demand growth forecast by 270,000 barrels to 5.4 million barrels a day
