Stocks retreated today. The Dow Jones industrials lost 207 points, the S&P 500 eased 46, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 203, or 1.7 percent.
After the close, Disney reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings and revenue; its theme-park business was particularly strong. The streaming service Disney+ gained 1.4 million subscribers compared to the prior quarter. And CEO Bob Iger said the company is now “embarking on a significant transformation.”
U.S. oil futures rose sharply again today. March crude jumped 1.7 percent to settle at $78.47 a barrel.
Recent Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame inductees Duran Duran have announced plans for a summer tour, with a New Orleans stop on the agenda. Known for hits like "The Reflex" and "Hungry Like the Wolf," the British band will play the Smoothie King Center on June 7.
