Oil giant Chevron will release its second-quarter earnings later this
week. But it pre-empted that announcement with a positive
performance update, saying the company is seeing better-than-
expected profit. Chevron also revealed record quarterly production in
the Permian Basin, where it’s averaging more than 770,000 barrels of oil each day.
Engineering company KBR says it’s won a nearly $2 billion
NASA contract to plan, train, and fly human spaceflight programs.
The company will provide mission planning and preparation, plus
astronaut and Mission Control training. The contract will run for at
least 5 years.
On Wall Street, futures are higher as investors gear up for a big week
of data. That includes the Federal Reserve’s latest meeting on
interest rates and a new report on inflation.
